Please join us to celebrate local business at the Annual Torch Award for Market place Ethics to be held November 19th at Hardin-Simmons University in the Johnson Building beginning at 11:30. This award will honor honesty & integrity in businesses that always go above and beyond the normal in building trust in the marketplace. Dr. Jon Weidanz, founder and President of Receptor Logic Inc., a Biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Abilene, will be our key-note speaker. He is a Professor with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Abilene. Dr. Weidanz was recently appointed Chairman of the new Department of Immunotherapeutics and Biotechnology. Please help the BBB recognize local businesses that are worthy of your trust.

NOMINATIONS: The BBB seeks nominations for the Torch Award year round. Nominations can come from customers, vendors and employees of the business. The nominations must be a for-profit business located in the surrounding 13-county area. Nominations closed September 17, for 2012.
2012 COMPETITION: Businesses compete with like size companies. This year 32 companies were invited to compete. They are asked to demonstrate their commitment to high ethical standards of behavior in the areas of management practices, customer/vendor relations, marketing/sales practices, and their reputation in the community with documentation.
PREVIOUS WINNERS: Last year the Torch Award winners were: Procter Automotive and Condley & Company.
